What Are Minor Arcana Cards?

Out of 78 tarot cards, 56 are minor arcana cards, that represent your daily life, struggles, thoughts, wins, and insight about what happens in your regular life. Don’t go by the name – even though they’re called ‘minor’ arcana cards, they unravel the deep-rooted past, how it shaped you, as well as give advice to mold yourself into a better you for tomorrow. These 56 cards are further divided into 4 suits that play a major role in tarot readings –

Suit Of Cups – The Element Of Water

The Cup represents the element of water, and just like water, our emotions and intuition know no limit when they flow. The Cup is connected to our emotions, relationships, love, intuition, and the matters of the heart. The Cup shows us how we feel about ourselves, as well as how we’re perceived by others. It indicates our passion, pleasures, our connections as well as our desires as it is also connected to our sacral chakra. How the past events surrounding these areas affected our subconscious, how we see things, and how we behave. When there is an imbalance in these areas, our confidence, aura, and thought patterns may seem to be out of balance too. The Cup cards help understand ourselves better as well as help us grow by giving solutions.

Suit Of Wands – The Element Of Fire

The Wands represent the element fire and are connected to our Solar Plexus. It indicates the fire within us – our creativity, inspirations, aspirations, spirituality, and other activities that ignite passion. Just like how fire is useful – for cooking, giving us warmth, generating light, etc, but it can also be destructive, causing more harm than good, out emotions, play a major role in designing our lives. The Wands cater to the spiritual level of awareness and reflect your core needs and desires. They indicate your character, personality, interests, self-concept, and your entire energy. They might nudge you to take a bold decision or advice you on taking an entirely new path by taking things slow.

Suit Of Swords – The Element Of Air

The Suit Of Swords signifies the element of air and the heart chakra. Even though it’s tempting to think about our heart chakra as the chakra that relates to the matters of the heart, it has another function that it performs behind the scene – connects our physical world with the spirit world, our spiritual consciousness. Just like air, our thoughts, knowledge remains unseen, but play an important role. Sword also represents truth,  fears, blocks, triggers. They help in creating a balance that is necessary to stay positive by having a sharp clear cut mindset.

Suit Of Pentacles – The Element Of Earth

Suit Of Pentacles, point to the Element Of Earth as well as the root chakra. They indicate our basic necessities, our survival essentials in our life – food, shelter, safety, home, warmth, etc. It represents the value of abundance in our life, our openness to receive The Universe’s kindness. Everything that can be pointed out by our physical senses, our material possession is what Pentacles talk about. Just as the root chakra is the foundation of the chakras, Pentacles talk about our foundation in the physical sense and paints a picture of our life.
